Finders Keepers is rooted in the belief that beauty already exists in nature. Through repurposing naturally found feathers, our goal is to enhancing their natural beauty through hand-painted designs that transform them into one of a kind work of art. Many of our feathers are collected from the Manistee National Forest in northern Michigan and some generously donated by families with domesticated birds. Each piece honors its past life while inviting a renewed appreciation for nature, creativity, and sustainability.

How it started

While working summers on a horse ranch in northern Michigan, I spend most days guiding guests on horseback rides. Out on the trails, surrounded by forests, every ride feels like a nature scavenger hunt. Along the way, I found myself stopping to pick up feathers. I would sometimes to tuck in my hat, share with friends or guests on the ride, or even add to flower bouquets back at the ranch. There’s a quiet thrill in discovering each one, knowing no two are alike. Over time, I realized these small treasures could be given a second life. I started painting them, and soon my coworkers and guests began noticing and admiring the pieces. I love creating for others, and it’s so rewarding to take something found in nature that is already beautiful and transform it into a piece that can be shared, appreciated, and passed down.

Looking for a real keeper?

We create custom commissions as well as pieces designed entirely by us. While commissioned work reflects your vision, our other feathers are created naturally through our artistic exploration.

Because no two pieces are the same, pricing can vary based on the size and number of feathers, as well as the amount of color and detail applied. This allows every creation to be valued for its uniqueness and craftsmanship.

Final pricing will be determined after reviewing the specifics of the piece.
